Let Her Cry

13 Feb

I pray you, let her cry,
her tears ne’er fall in vain;
let angels hear her sigh,
once ecstasy, now pain.

Yet, ‘ere was bolder time,
in her most ardent desire,
when she, more sublime,
bid her light to stoke fire.

And if, in her solace,
when no words suffice,
e’er was she flawless,
with her heart, precise.

But, ‘ere in her dying,
last breath of her sigh,
bid no more in trying,
as her time was nigh.

Beauty fades, but soft,
tho’ not in due course,
when she stumbled oft,
then tears had remorse.

Thus, I pray, let her cry,
fading fast to her death,
and let angels on high
now lend her winged breath.
