When I Was Wider Than The Sky

12 May

The stars are all silent now,
no dreams have they awoken;
they sleep in shuddered holds
amid wilds of vulnerable sky;
I have but touched the stars,
I felt their celestial tremble;
when earth had fallen to sleep,
and the sky paused to breathe;
’twas a moment lost to Time,
unwary as it was to my being;
but for that moment, in silence,
when I was wider than the sky.
